Green homes: Resource sufficiency is key to achieving climate neutrality

 Tuesday, 29. June 2021

Written by Gonzalo Sanchez and published on EurActiv, the article presents the principle of ecological sufficiency as it applies to the construction industry - as acting on ecological footprint of the housing sector becomes more and more urgent, the shortcomings of efficiency-oriented thinking, designing and planning start to show. The article illustrates how efficiency is not enough, and a sufficiency-oriented turn in the housing industry has the potential to make a real difference, from resuding energy demands, to sharing more functions, spaces and services, to repurposing empty buildings, to building to disassemble, adapt or change, to changing housing policy to become more flexible.
